General surgery
General surgery covers the treatment of many common conditions affecting the skin, tissues and organs in the body. This can include procedures such as removing the appendix or gall bladder, repairing hernias and treating some cancers, emergencies and injuries.
General surgeons are highly trained doctors who perform a wide range of operations. Some also complete extra training in a particular area, giving them added expertise for specific conditions.
