Dr Alarick Picardo is a Consultant Urologist based in Perth, Western Australia, with appointments at Perth Urology Clinic and Fiona Stanley Hospital. He is actively involved in clinical care, teaching, and research, and is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred treatment while remaining at the forefront of advances in urological surgery and technology. Dr Picardo’s clinical practice focuses on robotic urological surgery, urological cancers, and minimally invasive techniques. He has a particular interest in uro-oncology and the use of advanced robotic platforms to improve surgical precision, reduce recovery times, and enhance patient outcomes.

 

Background and Training

Dr Picardo grew up in Perth and completed his medical degree at the University of Western Australia, graduating with honours in 2010. He undertook his early medical training across major hospitals in Western Australia before achieving Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in Urology. He then moved to Sydney to complete further subspecialty training in robotics and complex uro-oncology. To broaden his expertise, Dr Picardo relocated to the United Kingdom, where he completed dual accredited fellowships at St George’s Hospital in London, including the Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCS Eng) and the European Association of Urology Robotic Section (ERUS). During this time, he trained under leading pioneers in robotic surgery, gaining extensive experience in advanced robotic and minimally invasive urological procedures. He has since returned to Perth to settle with his family and continue his clinical and academic work locally.
