Dr Vijay Panicker

Clinical Practice

Dr Vijay Panicker is a Specialist Physician and Endocrinologist with over 15 years of clinical experience in both Australia and the UK. He provides comprehensive care across all areas of endocrinology and diabetes, with a particular focus on thyroid disease, including thyroid cancer. Dr Panicker manages complex cases of Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, pituitary disorders, and osteoporosis. He continues to work at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, where he previously served as Head of the Endocrinology Department, and regularly treats inpatients at Hollywood Private Hospital as a no-gap provider for all health insurers. Outpatient appointments are typically available within two weeks, and telehealth consultations are offered—primarily for follow-ups, though new cases may be accommodated upon request.

Dr Panicker’s subspecialty interest lies in thyroid disease and thyroid cancer, supported by extensive clinical and research experience. He is also highly experienced in managing diabetes, including the use of advanced technologies for Type 1 diabetes, and regularly treats a wide range of endocrine conditions in both hospital and outpatient settings. 

 

Background & Training

A graduate of the University of Western Australia, Dr Panicker completed his specialty training in Perth and the United Kingdom. He holds a PhD focused on the genetics of thyroid disease and thyroid hormone replacement, and continues to contribute to research through SCGH and UWA. In addition to his clinical work, he is actively involved in teaching medical students, junior doctors, and endocrinology trainees, helping to prepare the next generation of clinicians to manage increasingly common endocrine conditions.
